A-LIFT Transportation More Than Just a Ride for Seniors
All across Adams County, older adults age 60 and better enjoy transportation to medical and dental appointments, adult day and respite programs, grocery facilities, congregate meal sites, and select personal trips.
These rides, provided by the A-LIFT Transportation Program at no fee, keep older adults, and individuals with mobility disabilities, independent and connected to the community. They allow individuals to continue aging in the comfort of their own homes, and to also avoid the high costs of a taxi cab or other transportation provider.
Less evident, though, are the special bonds formed between riders and their drivers, as well as amongst riders themselves. Click here to read more.
A-LIFT offers transportation to Adams County residents who are mobility impaired (must rely at all times on a walker or wheelchair) regardless of age, or who are 60 years of age and over. Transportation is offered to medical and dental appointments, community-based care programs, grocery facilities, congregate meal sites or personal trips. Its mission is to promote mobility and independence for older adults and disabled persons through a community partnership committed to accessible and affordable transportation in Adams County.
Rides are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in Adams County. They are provided at no fee, although donations are accepted and appreciated to defray costs. Service animals are accepted on vehicles
