Employment Program
The Employment Program helps seniors in Jefferson County and
surrounding areas to find part and full-time jobs and develop
marketable skills. It is composed of the Senior AIDE Program
and the Job Matching Service.
The Senior AIDE Program is a federally funded job training
program for low-income seniors residing in Jefferson, Clear
Creek, and/or Gilpin counties.
The Senior AIDE Program places income eligible seniors, age 55
and older, into non-profit and governmental agencies at which
they receive on-the-job training. AIDES often learn skills
such as data entry, word processing, clerical, receptionist
and administrative skills. The AIDE is paid $5.15 per hour and
works 20 hours a week.
When the AIDE has acquired marketable skills, the Senior AIDE Program assists
him or her in obtaining a regular job outside of the program. Training in job
search techniques, interviewing, and resume writing is offered.
The Job Matching Service matches seniors looking for work with employers who have
a job opening. This service is available to seniors of all income levels. The
program is open Monday through Friday, but hours vary so please call ahead.
