Intergenerational Service Project
The America Reads Challenge is a national effort to help children
learn to read. National test scores indicate that a higher number
of children are not meeting criteria for effective reading and
reading skills are closely linked to a child's self esteem and
success. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program has received
funding to build community partnerships with three established
children's literacy programs in Jefferson County: Links to Literacy,
and A Step Up.
