In-Home Respite Volunteer
SRC is urgently seeking caring volunteers for its In-Home Respite Team! These volunteers will relieve a caregiver by going into their home and providing companionship to their elderly loved one for 1-4 hours per week. This allows the caregiver time to get away, attend to personal needs, or simply have a respite from their demanding 24/7 caregiving roles. As a volunteer your role is completely non-medical and no personal care to the client is required; we only ask that you oversee the general safety of the elder client, give food or drink as needed, provide companionship, extend support to client and caregiver, and provide a link to needed resources and services at SRC. SRC is seeking volunteers to serve as schedulers, recorders, and tax preparers as part of the 2012 VITA Tax Assistance program. The program runs from January 16 through April 15, 2012. Click here for more information, or call 303.235.6941.
Adult Day Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Services helps individuals to serve their communities through three distinct programs: the SRC Volunteer Program, RSVP of Jefferson County (RSVP), and the Volunteer Driver Services Program.
In 2010, 1,480 volunteers from the SRC Volunteer and RSVP of Jefferson County programs provided home repairs, fraud prevention education and personal support, and contributed 192,191 hours of volunteer service to the community.
- SRC Volunteer Program - Volunteers of all ages may contribute their particular experiences, interests, and skills through many available opportunities.
- RSVP - Offers opportunities to volunteer at Jefferson County non-profit agencies for individuals age 55 and older.
- Volunteer Driver Program - Personal trips and occassional medical rides are provided to individuals age 50 and older by volunteers in their personal vehicles.
