SEWING GROUPS- make quilts, afghans, baby items, and nursing home items,
to share with needy Jefferson County residents.
BILL PAYERS- provide in-home money-management services helping low-income
elderly persons to budget, pay routine bills and keep track of financial matters.
MINOR HOME REPAIR- perform simple household repairs for low-income
seniors and disabled persons.
PERSONAL SHOPPERS- assist homebound seniors by doing regularly scheduled
grocery or personal shopping.
TEL-A-SURE CALLERS- reach out and touch the lives of elderly persons
living alone, with friendship and understanding through daily phone contact.
WOODWORKING GROUP- construct wheelchair ramps, railings, etc. for low-income
seniors and disabled persons and make toys and other items needed by nonprofit
organizations in the community.
ADULT DAY AND RESPITE SERVICES ASSISTANTS & ENTERTAINERS- bring
pleasure into the lives of seniors in SRC's adult day program. Volunteers read,
teach crafts, play music, and generally provide positive interaction with participants.
FRIENDLY VISITORS- provide friendship to socially isolated seniors
or handicapped individuals by way of telephone contact and home visits.
TAX VOLUNTEERS- assist low income clients in preparing state and federal
income tax forms through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
MEDICARE VOLUNTEERS- provide much needed help for seniors struggling
with the intricacies of medical insurance through the Medical Insurance Counseling
Assistance Program.
