Every year, Seniors’ Resource Center (SRC) is fortunate to have an opportunity to bring together our community of loyal supporters for a morning of inspiration and generosity. This year’s Gift of Independence Breakfast was our biggest breakfast event ever, gathering nearly 300 people who care deeply about our mission to help seniors age with dignity and independence.

It was a morning of inspiration and connection. Nelson Garcia from 9News emceed the event, which opened with a presentation from Lutheran Medical Center. SRC was honored this year by the generous support of Lutheran Medical Center, whose senior-specific services, including the first ER for seniors in Colorado, is such an asset to older adults. Bev White, SRC Board Member and Director of the ER Department, updated the group about everything that is available to seniors through Lutheran.

John Zabawa, SRC’s President & CEO, described the impact of SRC in our community GOI2015002and the need for growth. Exceeding even the national growth rate, the senior population in our area is growing quickly and the need for services increases each year. SRC still turns away potential clients, even though its client list grows each year.

The morning’s biggest inspiration came from Anne McKinley, who graciously shared her heart-warming experiences as both a client and board member of SRC. After years of helping lead SRC as a board member, Anne brought the crowd to happy tears describing her gratitude for recently having had the support of SRC as a client.

Board member Chris Lynn wrapped up the morning with a rousing call to action, which apparently was truly taken to heart. Our gratitude is much greater than our words can express. Our amazing donors exceeded the event goals by over 30%!

Our work is making a real impact in the lives of so many and we are very fortunate to be able to share that success and, importantly, to continue it because of our supporters. We are truly founded on a community of people who believe in making our mission happen.

Events like this let us know that we are making a difference. We want all our supporters and community to know that, because of you, we will continue to do this work that we all value so much.
