The Giving Hope Gala, Seniors’ Resource Center’s largest ever annual fundraiser, will celebrate CEO John Zabawa’s 36 years of service helping seniors age in place. The event will be held at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science on Friday, June 23, 2017.
The Giving Hope Gala brings together community partners in support of SRC. Gala partners include Lutheran Medical Center, Community First Foundation, and DRCOG. In addition to the event being an important fund raiser for SRC, it also provides an opportunity to celebrate the retirement and legacy of John Zabawa. President and CEO Zabawa previously announced plans to retire in August.
“It’s because of the work and support of so many donors, community partners, volunteers, board members and dedicated staff that SRC has become much bigger than any one leader. John has built a truly solid and crucial support system for seniors in our community,” says SRC Board Chair Deborah Brackney.
The evening will begin with a President’s VIP Reception at 5:30 p.m., featuring Special VIP Guest Speaker Beth Bowlen Wallace. The evening will include a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., dinner and program at 7 p.m., and conclude with music and dancing from 8:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Reggie Rivers, former Denver Broncos player, will serve as a celebrity emcee and auctioneer. Mark Koebrich, retired anchor of 9News and active volunteer at SRC, will be the Celebrity Keynote Speaker. The Hazel Miller Band will provide music to top off the evening.
Seniors’ Resource Center is a community partner providing services to older adults that enhance independence, dignity and quality of life. SRC provides the support that older adults need to age at home as long as possible. Colorado is third in the nation in senior population growth. Seniors’ Resource Center is based in Jefferson County, which is experiencing the fastest growth of seniors in the state.
