John was diagnosed 6 years ago with early onset Alzheimer’s and now at age 66 the disease has severely progressed.

Fortunately, John attends SRC’s Adult DayProgram at least twice a week.

Debbie, who is now 61, continues to work. She is determined to keep him in their home but knows she needs help. Prior to attending, John’s appetite was decreasing and he was sleeping a lot more. He was struggling and Debbie was getting overwhelmed.

“When he goes to SRC, it’s like he has a reason to live again,” Debbie said. “He is up and about dancing, his appetite has increased, and he does so much better.”

It’s been a challenging time for both Debbie and John. The small break between her work and him coming home from provides her only relief; a twenty minute nap. On average she gets about 3 hours of sleep a night.

With the help of SRC’s Adult Day Program, John is more active and social. Equally as important, Debbie gets some well-deserved rest.

Adult Day & Respite Services offer day programs to assists older adults with physical and cognitive challenges, and young adults with developmental disabilities, remain in their own homes with their families. Friendly, compassionate and supportive staff cares for people with Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and other conditions.
