Good news can seem hard to find. There is no shortage of shocking news, from the terrifying to the just plain uncivil. In these days of constant news coverage from so many sources, it is easy to tune it all out or become quickly overwhelmed.
However, the good news is out there. We see it everyday in the work that we do.
Every day we see people lovingly giving their time to care for family members and friends. Calls come in from concerned neighbors to find help for someone they know. Our volunteers dedicate their free time to give someone else a bit more independence and dignity.
This is why we are proud to support events in our community that showcase the wonderful things happening around us. We know that many, many people in our community are doing great work and that we have to make time and space for the good news. We hope you’ll join us this spring to celebrate and be inspired.

Good News Breakfast
On April 12, we invite you to join us for the Good News Breakfast. This countywide celebration originated in 1989 when founders Terry Nelson, Jim Billings and Alan Landes decided that too often the only news they heard was negative. They brought together a coalition of people from churches and synagogues, service and professional organizations, businesses and schools to celebrate good news in Jefferson County.
Senior Heroes
On May 12, we’ll once again honor our Senior Heroes. We are so proud to co-sponsor this annual event where we recognize the contributions of neighbors who are 60 and over. May is Older Americans Month when we take time to raise awareness of the contributions of older citizens and celebrate the tremendous contributions they make in our communities. Stay tuned to this blog for more information on Senior Heroes and Older Americans Month.
