Seniors’ Resource Center is excited to introduce our new Site Supervisor for The Starr CenterAmrita Corner, Amrita Comer.  We know she brings great passion and experience to the position and we’re looking forward to having her guide the program.

Amrita’s background is in nursing, both in practice and academia.  She’s build her career around serving others and promoting wellness.

I am so honored and excited to join the team at Starr Center. Linda, Sasha, Ramsey and Jessica are dedicated to providing a stimulating, safe and positive environment for our participants every day.  I will add to The STARR Center by bringing my knowledge related to growth and development, strategies for enhancing function in developmentally disabled young adults, and extending my commitment to teach healthy lifestyle habits so that our participants can maximize their functioning skills.

Amrita’s skills and interests will serve SRC’s Starr Center very well. The Starr Center is an adult day program that focuses on continuous learning with access to community resources. The Center supports young adults with a variety of intellectual/developmental disabilities and chronic conditions including Down Syndrome, autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and other cognitive disabilities.

Participants at The Starr Center are able to volunteer in the community while receiving work readiness training. Through skill building activities, participants have the opportunity to experience “real life” learning, such as personal hygiene, cooking & cleaning, laundry, reading, shopping, utilizing computer skills and more. Additionally, there are leisure and therapeutic activities at the Center, like picnics, art expression, music therapy, games and more.

If you are at The Starr Center, please introduce yourself to Amrita and give her a warm welcome.  You can reach The Starr Center at 303.233.0324 and Amrita at that number or acomer@SRCAging.org.
