Want to make a difference in your community? Pay it forward? The new year is a great time to turn over a new leaf and make new friends.
You can make a difference in the life of a senior
. . . and make a big difference in your own life. Seniors’ Resource Center serves over 24,000 people a year, and we couldn’t do it without our volunteers. There are many opportunities for you to use your talents to support our mission. We would love to have you join us!
Volunteer Opportunities
Neighbors to Neighbors: Good neighbors are hard to come by—join our team and get matched up with a senior who lacks social or family support to provide companionship, personal shopping assistance, or phone call check-ins on a weekly basis.
Volunteer Driving: Driven to help seniors? Choose to use your own vehicle or use an SRC vehicle to provide transportation for seniors to medical appointments, church services, personal errands, and activities, primarily within the Jefferson County area.
Minor Home Repairs/Ramp Building: Join a team of skilled volunteers to assist seniors in need with minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing or mechanical problems, as well as home safety modifications. Enjoy the flexibility of working on your own schedule and being matched with seniors geographically close to you.
Bill Payer Program: Volunteers trained in financial management help low-income seniors manage their personal finances in their homes by helping to write checks, form a budget, balance checkbooks, etc. Get matched up with a senior close to you and make a huge difference in his or her ability to remain independent.
Income Tax Preparation: Join a team of trained volunteers to provide assistance with state and federal tax returns to seniors and lower-income individuals during tax season each year at one of our two tax sites (Littleton or Wheat Ridge). The service is provided on an appointment-only basis two days a week.
Tel-a-Sure: There are many seniors across Colorado who live alone, and a simple fall or health issue can lead to serious issues. Our Tel-A-Sure Program provides seniors with a guaranteed daily call to ensure their safety and well-being.
Adult Day Program Support: Volunteer to support the Adult Day and Respite Program in Wheat Ridge by assisting in activities, interacting with participants, and helping to serve meals and snacks to seniors struggling with memory loss.
Wheat Ridge Program Support: Use your unique skills to support our Wheat Ridge administrative offices by serving on an Advisory Council, assisting with clerical work, or helping with special events and projects.
Starr Center Program Support: Support the Starr Center where adults with developmental disabilities make new friends and engage in a variety of lively activities in a structured environment. Help participants by teaching literacy classes, accompanying them on field trips, or helping out in the art room.
SRC Southwest Program Support: Volunteer to offer your services at our Southwest satellite office by teaching computer classes to seniors, greeting walk-in clients, or running various groups to build community amongst seniors in the area.
These are just some of the opportunities we have available. If you have a specific talent you would like to share please tell us about it!
